Rocks In My Head

The sculpture lies within and I must chip away what doesn’t belong. To release the figure in the rock is to figure out the rock itself. I must understand how the internal interacts with the external. Only then do I move from the rocks in my head to the rocks in my hands to make the vision real. .

I can see that sprinter you have found hidden in the rock!

Thanks, David! The sprinter is looking clearer and clearer as I go. As I write this I’m getting into some permanent decisions about shapes, angles, proportions. It’s times like this that I must remind myself that my role is to actually remove stone and make these decisions. I’ll put some new photos up shortly.
